MY DAD’S LESSONS Wins Big Stamp at ZagrebDox

At the 21st edition of the ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival, the film “My Dad’s Lessons”, directed by Dalija Dozet and produced by Hulahop, was awarded the Big Stamp in the Regional Competition, where it also had its world premiere.

Both audiences and critics have praised the film, and the jury of the Regional Competition—comprising Tanja Miličić, Viki Réka Kiss, and Vladimir Loginov—said the following about it:
“This is a film about documenting and the act of filming itself. It’s about the camera as a tool and as a means of communication, its presence in space. At the same time, it is a film about family, human relationships and grief. We witness a beautiful encounter between father and daughter through numerous poetic images. This is an innovative and artistically outstanding film.”

The story was shaped by screenwriters Dalija Dozet and Beatrica Kurbel, with Danijel Dozet capturing moments from his own life. Luka Matić shot additional footage, while the demanding editing process, working with over 300 tapes Danijel had recorded throughout his life, was led by Sara Gregorić. Miro Manojlović composed the music for the film, and Frano Homen worked as sound designer. The film was produced by the production company Hulahop, with Dana Budisavljević as the producer and Noa Nikolić as the executive producer.

The film of Bulgarian directors Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov “The Cars We Drove into Capitalism” will have its Croatian premiere at the International festival of documentary film ZagrebDox. The festival takes place from 3rd untill 10th of April in Kaptol Boutique Cinema & Bar.

Animafest Zagreb 2022 presents films in the Grand Competition

Among 1800 submitted films from 91 countries from across the world, World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb is proud to present the official selection for the Grand Competition – Short Film, Student Film Competition and Croatian Film Competition categories of the 2022 edition of the festival.

Besides Animafest’s artistic director Daniel Šuljić, other members of the selection committee for the Grand Competition – Short Film and Croatian Film Competition were Margit Antauer and Vesna Meštrić, while Kata Gugić and Hrvoje Selec selected films in the Student Film Competition category.

Almost 900 films were submitted for the Grand Competition – Short Film category alone and 47 of them were selected to be presented at the festival. From 780 student submissions, 42 films were selected for the Student Film Competition, while the Croatian Film Competition will feature 18 films.

World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb will be take place from 6th till 11th June 2022.

The selection results for the Grand Competition – Feature Film, Films for Children Competition, VR Animation Competition and World Panorama, as well as the details of the rest of the festival program will be announced soon.

STORY

Deeply troubled by the persecution of innocent mothers and children in Nazi-occupied Croatia, Diana, a distinguished Austrian, undertakes what is to become one of the largest rescue campaigns of World War II – one that saved 10,000 children from certain death. Eighty years later, few survivors return to the ruins of former camps only to find out that they owe their lives to the determination of one woman. Through its fragmentary structure, an amalgam of archival footage, survivors’ accounts, and scenes depicted by Diana in her diary entries, the film attempts to create a cinematic encounter between those the history has unjustly torn asunder: a selfless woman and the children she had saved.

“Slumbering Concrete” (Season 3) in pre-production

In January 2022 we started with pre-production of the third season of “Slumbering Concrete” series, titled “Triumphs of Modernism”. The series is being made by Hulahop for HRT (Croatian Television). The broadcast is expected in 2023.
